The Palmetto Poetry Series takes as its mission to foster and promote a diverse, inclusive chorus of voices representing the rich tradition of poetry originating from and connected to the state of South Carolina. The series publishes book-length collections by individual poets and edited anthologies of verse.
The series was founded by Kwame Dawes, the award-winning author of sixteen collections of poetry and works of fiction, nonfiction, criticism, and drama. In 2014, National Book Award-winning poet Nikky Finney was announced as the new series editor. The series continues to publish two or more new volumes each year.
