Calling all original, humorous, poignant, irreverent and soulful stories of motherhood: LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER: CHARLESTON seeks a diverse collection of writers to read their own words about motherhood. Everyone is invited to audition: amateurs, professionals, non-mothers and men, too!
LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER is a national series of live readings celebrated locally on stages and shared globally via social media. As part of the 2014 32-city season, LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER:CHARLESTON will be held Sunday May 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Footlight Players Theatre. 10% of ticket sales benefit Postpartum Support Charleston
Charleston auditions will be held March 1, 2, and 3 at The Little Black Book (76B Spring St). Follow this link to sign up for your audition via VolunteerSpot.
Audition pieces must be true stories (written by you) and roughly five minutes or less when read aloud. We want to hear the story only you can tell about being a mom/not being a mom, having a mom/not having a mom—every variation on the theme, so long as Motherhood is the star! Selected cast must be able to attend two rehearsals (date TBA) and a pre-show run through on Sunday, May 4 at the Footlight Players Theatre.
Previously published work will be accepted as long as you retain full rights or have express permission to read the work for the event. Selected cast will agree to have their performances recorded during the show, shared online and posted on the LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER YouTube channel.
