Workshop highlighting the importance of adequate preparation of manuscripts and proposals for submission to presses and journals. Information on recent developments in electronic publishing as well as the place of traditional book publishing in modern scholarship. Discussion of local and regional media outlets for publication of scholarly essays, feature articles, and commentaries. Examples of non-traditional scholarly research and publication opportunities. Alexander Moore, a Charleston native, is acquisitions editor at the University of South Carolina Press, where he manages the history and regional studies lists. He is on the editorial board of the [William Gilmore] Simms Review. Moore is author or editor of more than twenty books on southern and South Carolina history and numerous journal and encyclopedia articles on American literary, fine art, and history topics.
