In case you haven’t taken a look at the LILA Calendar recently, there are several events coming up this week!

March 17: Readings at Circular Church

What do an Irish Bishop from Charleston who undertook a secret Civil War mission to the Vatican, a daughter whose wing man on the Natchez Trace was her 80-year-old father, and a compilation of the best literary reviews in the Lowcountry have in common?

They are all the true-story subjects of newly published books by Charleston-based authors Andra Watkins (Not Without My Father), Bill Thompson (Art and Craft) and  Stephen White (Patrick Nieson Lynch) who will gather March 17 for a reading, signing and reception at Circular Congregational Church, 150 Meeting Street in downtown Charleston. 6:30 to 8:00 pm.

If you’re a LILA member and would like to read a 3-minute excerpt from your own published or unpublished nonfiction work, you’re invited to the “open mic” reading following these authors. Bring a few pages and share your words with a supportive group of fellow readers and writers.

March 19: LILA Member Mixer at Muse

Join fellow LILA members (and if you’re not one yet, come join us and get in on the fun) at Muse Restaurant & Wine Bar, located at 82 Society St. in Charleston, SC. The event is free and Muse will feature a signature drink for the evening.

March 22: PubSense Summit at Francis Marion

This year’s PubSense Summit features keynote speakers Cevin Bryerman (Publishers Weekly) and Joanna Penn (The Creative Penn) joining a faculty of 64 of the brightest minds in publishing today for three days of learning, demonstrations, exhibits and networking for authors and publishers.

Student/teacher pricing is available for just $75 a day (w/out meal events) and discounted registration is available for you using code WWW2015.

The conference includes a day of Master Classes and two more full days of regular sessions on Mon-Tue, all culminating in the signature Dish & Dialog dinner, where attendees can opt to sit with their choice of agent, editor or publisher and pitch their work.

Attendees can still sign up at http://www.pubsensesummit.com. A limited number of registrations will also be available at the door.

Here’s a look at the 2015 PubSense Summit program guide, where you’ll find schedules, speaker bios, an exhibitor map, and several special offers from participating sponsors!
